The hour-long train ride from Brannenburg station into Munich was a perfect way to catch up on some sleep and start the day. The morning began with a tour of the transportation museum and directly after, we started our leisurely tour of the city of Munich provided by our fearless tour guide, Justin Myers. The tour commenced in the city’s largest green space, the Englischer Garten or the English Garden. The garden was at the center of the culture in Munich. With only a couple steps into the vast garden, I could immediately tell that half the Munich population was in the park, spending their day relaxing. The grounds were plopped right in the center of the city with the Isar river running through. The river provides a cool way to layback and swim on a summer’s day, but sadly Mrs. Paige wouldn’t let us in. The garden was different from a garden back in the states. As we traversed through the park you could tell that it wasn’t just a place to meet, the park was seen as a place to spend your entire day.

The park wasn’t just a green space. Multiple beer gardens, restaurants, and cafes were placed throughout the park. The boys and Myers explored deep into the park and walked for a good bit. We walked for at least a mile and it felt like we could have walked for many more and not even reach the end of the park. After enjoying our boy time at the restaurant on the lake, we proceeded back to meet up with the group, only for Riley to realize that he had foolishly forgotten his backpack with his laptop and passport inside. The entire group only had to wait one hour in the subway station for Riley to finally regroup with us.

The tour of the city then resumed with the Marienplatz. Mrs. Paige let us explore around the main town square in Munich for an hour or so before dinner. I definitely had to go into the T.K.Maxx for some new summer apparel. The night then concluded with one of the best dinners so far on the trip. The German restaurant offered a filet so you know the boys had to

get that. The tour taught us that Munich offered something different to us. It was a smaller city with much more emphasis on enjoying your time. Munich proved the European mindset.
