As I entered the Frankfurt Airport after a two-hour delay from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International airport, I was greeted with a plethora of unfamiliar signs, directions, and signals all in German. I traveled with three of my best friends, yet we all felt pretty isolated and tired from such a long and arduous journey. The only comforting recollection from the States was a 2,00 € pack of Haribo gummy bears. Now that might seem crazy, but who doesn’t like these little delicacies! convince store. There are even gummy bears in the bathrooms, but those are on the ground and not for sale. Everywhere you look, Germany is selling Haribo gummies! This doesn’t not come by coincidence. Matter of fact, Haribo was started here in Germany and has been a staple in many households since 1967. Originating in Germany, the gummy bear has brought people together in times of prosperity and even in trying times, such as during Weimar Germany’s hyperinflation. Thus, they are literally and figuratively the glue holding relationships and happiness around the world!
