Class started off like any other day: Wi-Fi struggles, review of whichever tour we did last (in this case the brewery tour) and giving updates on our blogs, except it ended unusually early. Paige and Myers took a sidebar and a map was involved. Immediately our faces lit up. We knew what was coming next: the second vlog competition. As the undisputed and unofficial reigning champs, naturally our group was stoked… Until she split up out teams yet again and all our previous team chemistry went down the drain. I’m obligated to say that this is explicitly not a competition between groups, however it is an unofficial one between the students that wish to participate in the banter. Armed with a fresh crop of teammates and camera phones we set off to visually document Berlin. The location we were assigned this time was Alexandrplatz which reminded me of a smaller Times Square. The river shots we got in Hamburg were replaced with rivers of pedestrians going about their Thursday. Paige considered the interesting atom shaped clock in the center of the plaza the main attraction. We decided that the 298 meter tall Berliner Frensehturm sky scraper was the actual center piece of Alexandrplatz.

45 minutes in line and 12 euros lighter we were traveling 6 meters per second up into the air towards the top. With the Reichstag and Brandenburg gates on one side, beautiful churches on the other, even green parks filling the gaps tastefully, it truly was breathtaking. You could even make out parts of the old Berlin Wall. The contrast in architecture made each view different. Every window was packed with tourists and the bartender had his hands full at noon! Unfortunately, we had to make it back for lunch at 1, so we called it a wrap after 30 or so minutes and booked it back home with our phones just as full as our minds with memories of the plaza and the view.
